Me
I am an artist. More specifically, a creative individual with a passion for Engineering. Compositing in Nuke at it's core, is essentially just engineering systems that take into account a number of variables to produce an aestetic output.
My Start
I've always had a passion for film. Like many VFX artists, I got my start by compositing lightsaber effects onto camcorder footage on my parents' laptop when I was probably around 13 years old. That early passion somehow snowballed into a career in VFX.
My Education
After discontinuing my degree in Film due to an underdeveloped film course at the school, I entered the industry through the camera department and as a junior compositor at Shadeena Entertainment. There, I learned the ropes around a film set and eventually took on the role of a sort of junior on-set supervisor, due to my work on set and my knowlege of compositing.
My Career
In 2018, I joined Stargate Studios Malta and have focused primarily on compositing since then. I've had the privilege of serving as On-Set, VFX, and Compositing Supervisor on several exciting projects over the years. Each role presented unique challenges and opportunities that I was eager to take on, but at my core, I consider myself a Compositing Artist above all.
My Passion
On the creative side, I find great satisfaction in crafting stunning visuals and aesthetic images, which has naturally led me toward look development throughout my career. On the technical side, I enjoy exploring the full potential of Nuke, its logical workflow and the various ways it interprets data from render engines and other sources. I take pleasure in discovering new techniques and breaking them down to their core mathematical functions. There's a unique satisfaction in creating a photoreal, aesthetically pleasing, pixel-perfect, and mathematically precise result when compositing a shot.
